Cochrane Ranche Days Festival this Weekend

At the Cochrane Ranche Historic Site, corner of Hwy 1A & 22. This is a free celebration of the Cochrane Ranche’s birthday with activities, displays, live music and a petting zoo.

Saturday August 2nd
• 9:00 am- 3:00 pm: extended Farmers Market (CEAC’s biggest and longest market of the year!)
• 2:00 pm: unveiling of an historic mural from the Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation art collection (location: Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation, in the Cochrane Ranche House, 101 Ranche House Rd) The 16’ x 6’ mural was painted by Maxine Macleay, one of the first female graduates of the University of the Alberta College of Agriculture and depicts an action-packed scene from the Cowboy Trail.

Sunday, August 3rd
• 12 noon: re-enactment of the unveiling of the Men of Vision statue, featuring local horsewomen, in honour of its 35th anniversary.
• 1:00 pm-4:00 pm: live entertainment, wagon rides with the Cochrane Posse, food vendors, children’s activities, and video screening in the Westerson Cabin. Members of the Stockmen’s Foundation demonstrate traditional corral construction as they build new gates for the Ranche corrals.  Cochrane Historical & Archival Preservation Society heritage display.
