The Polar Express Christmas Train Ride – we’re so doing this!

Set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, passengers will relive the magic of the story as they are whisked away on THE POLAR EXPRESS™. Once onboard, hot chocolate and treats are served as passengers read along with the classic children’s book, The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsburg. Santa and his helpers greet passengers at the North Pole and then board the train, where each child is given the first gift of Christmas – a silver sleigh bell. Chefs aboard each car lead passengers in singing Christmas carols on the ride back to Aspen Crossing.

Cochrane Outhouse Races!!

Please PLEASE don’t miss the annual event. It’s hilarious. Its fun, it’s silly and its charming community crap – literally! It’s held right on Main Street in front of the Heavenly Outhouse store at 10am on Saturday Sept. 26th this year. And I heard that the Cochrane Glee Club may have a little something to contribute this year 🙂 For more information or thinking about entering an outhouse next year:

Cochrane Rodeo & Labour Day Parade!

Undoubtedly one of the most fun weekends in town! As a fellow Cochranite I always try to make sure we’re home and around town for the September Long weekend. The small town rodeo offers perfection in western entertainment, music, food and fun. And the Labour Parade just gets better and BIGGER every year – its become an annual event that kids (and me) don’t want to miss. For more information on the Rodeo, click here: and to check out the route and info for the parade, click here:

By popular request: My fairy godmother column

Calgary Herald

Virtually every week since the Dec. 19, 2009 column below ran, I have received e-mails from readers writing to me about the below column. Today, I have received four such e-mails, two of them asking me if I wrote the below column. They have it sent to them, and for whatever reason, my name has been removed and the column has been shortened. Below is the original. Feel free to send the link around, or cut and paste it into an e-mail. I don’t care. However, please keep it intact and keep my byline on it. Thanks,
